PUBLIC NOTICE
APPOINTMENT OF COUNTY COMMISSIONER
REPRESENTING COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT 6

            Please be advised that the Johnston County Board of Commissioners are accepting applications from interested citizens to be considered for appointment as a Johnston County Commissioner representing County Commissioner District 6 that is being vacated at the end of September.  Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153A-27, to be eligible for appointment to fill a vacancy, a person must be a member of the same political party and be a resident of the same district as the member being replaced; therefore, applicants must be a registered Republican and reside within County Commissioner District 6.  A map of the Johnston County Commissioner Districts is located online at www.JohnstonNC.com/commissioners; however, interested citizens are encouraged to contact the Johnston County Board of Elections Office at (919) 989-5095 to verify that they reside within County Commissioner District 6 before applying.  Any citizen that wishes to be considered must submit an application with accompanying resume to the following address:

            The deadline to submit applications is Friday, September 29, 2017 by 5:00 PM.  Applications will be date/time stamped at the time of receipt.  Applications may be mailed via U.S. Mail; however, it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their application is received no later than 5:00 PM on September 29th. Applications received after 5:00 PM on September 29th will not be accepted, regardless of the reason.  Application forms are available in the Clerk to the Board’s Office, Johnston County Courthouse, 207 E. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
October Rezoning/Special Use Hearings

The Johnston County Board of Commissioners will conduct Rezoning Petition and Special Use Permit Application Public Hearings for the following cases on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the 6:00 p.m. Commissioners Meeting in the Commissioners Meeting Room, Johnston County Courthouse, 207 E. Johnston Street, Smithfield, North Carolina.  After each rezoning case is heard, the rezoning public hearing, which is a legislative hearing, will be recessed and the Board will render a decision.  In the case of special use district rezonings, the special use hearing will be heard before reopening the hearing for the next case.  The special use hearing is a quasi-judicial hearing where the Board is sitting as judges and will hear factual evidence as testimony.

CASE 17-16:  Rezoning Petition: Petition to rezone a 2.48 acre tract located at 6113 NC Hwy 42 in Cleveland Township from Agricultural Residential (AR) to General Business (GB).  Tax ID: 06D01009G.  Owner: Thomas and Anne Godwin   Applicant: John M. Strasser Properties, LLC

Public Notice
Disposal of Surplus Property

The Johnston County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution at their regularly scheduled meeting held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, declaring certain personal property surplus and authorizing for the property to be sold by electronic public auction.  The property consists of the following:

2010 Ford E350 Ambulance VIN#1FDXE4FP6ADA36132           Mileage:  140,370

2006 Ford E350 Ambulance VIN#1FDXE45P66HA36665           Mileage:  128,751

The County will be using GovDeals (http://www.govdeals.com), an on-line auction service provider, for the disposal of this property.  The auction will begin on September 18, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. and end on October 31, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.  Registration is required for bidding.  All items are sold “as is”, and the acceptable methods of payment are cash, money order, and certified check.  Please review the terms and conditions before bidding.
