For Immediate Release:

Smithfield, NC – The Johnston County Board of Elections is excited to announce the winner of the "I Voted Early" sticker contest. The student with the most votes was Carson McCauley, an eighth grader from Meadow Middle School in Johnston County. In addition to the words "I Voted Early," his design includes the state flag of North Carolina combined with elements of the American flag. Carson received a $100 cash prize yesterday after showing off his unique design at the Board of Elections' office. We had a fantastic response from our community with a diverse range of creative entries that truly demonstrated Johnston County’s artistic talent.

Thank you to everyone who submitted ideas and voted. Be on the lookout for this sticker design adorning residents around town very soon. Early voting for the primaries begins on February 15, 2024 and election day will take place on March 5, 2024. To view sample ballots and early voting information, visit the Board of Elections website today. Thank you to all the students who participated and added some local flair to this year's election process.
