Preparing for the Potential Impact of Hurricane Irma

Smithfield, NC – The Emergency Services team is continuing to monitor and make preparations should the path of Hurricane Irma impact Central North Carolina.

We encourage everyone to take precautionary measures as well and be prepared with a family emergency plan and supply kit.  For information on creating your family emergency plan and putting together an emergency supply kit, please visit

ReadyNC also has a mobile app that is a great resource as people prepare for hurricanes.  The app provides information on real-time traffic, weather, river levels, evacuations, shelters, power outages and more.  As the storm progresses and approaches the North Carolina coast, more information within the app will be populated.

Ready NC is an all-in-one FREE tool for emergency preparedness and it works for both iPhone and Android devices.  To download, click the appropriate link (iPhone / Android) or search “ReadyNC” in the App Store or Google Play Store and click “Install”.
