The Johnston County Economic Development Office acts as a facilitator between government and the private sector to encourage and promote development opportunities within the County. The office is a division of County government and is supported in total by County ad valorem taxes.
The current tax rate established by the Board of Commissioners, effective for Fiscal Year 2015 - 2016 is $0.78 per $100 valuation. The County has prospered from continued residential, commercial, and industrial investment. The balanced growth approach to economic development, planning, and sound fiscal management overseen by the Board of County Commissioners has been responsible for bond rating designations by Standard and Poor's of AA+ and Moody's of Aa1.
