Smithfield NC – On Monday, the Johnston County Commissioners and the Johnston County Economic Development Advisory Board recognized Automatic Rolls/Northeast Foods of Clayton for their commitment to Johnston County and community support by honoring the company with the County’s “Industry Appreciation” award. This award is presented quarterly to Johnston County Industries.
“Existing Industries and Businesses are extremely important to the economic strength of Johnston County”, stated Tony Braswell, Chairman of the Johnston County Board of Commissioners. “Today we are honored to recognize Automatic Rolls for not only their commitment in providing an excellent product, but their commitment to providing excellent jobs and continued support of our communities”.
In the early 1960's John Paterakis and Ray Kroc of McDonald’s shook hands. This simple act between two business visionaries was the catalyst behind creating Northeast Foods, a state-of-the-art bakery division specializing in baking and serving multi-chain casual dining operations.
Northeast Foods (NEF) has been a key supplier to the McDonald's fast food chain and has grown right along with McDonald's. NEF is now the largest supplier of buns in the United States.
Northeast Foods continues to thrive because our employees share the core values of hard work, dedication to community and pride of achievement, states Richard Tommy, Plant Manager and VP of Automatic Rolls of NC/Northeast Foods. “We are all humbly honored for this award, and we thank those who have nominated our Company and employees.”
The team at NEF uses innovative technology to make the company an industry leader. By maintaining modern plants, continually training employees, and focusing on quality as the primary focus, NEF is a model for the baking industry.
“Automatic Rolls steadfast support of Johnston County and the Town of Clayton exemplifies what it means to be a great corporate citizen,” expressed Jody McLeod, Mayor of Clayton and Johnston County Economic Development Advisory Board member. “Just last week, they pledged $50,000 to the capital campaign for the Celebration Playground. This generous donation will provide an opportunity for all children of all abilities to play together, as well as for parents or caregivers who may have mobility challenges
