Johnston County North Carolina

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program

WIC is designed for pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children under five years of age who qualify. This program provides supplemental foods, breastfeeding supplies, and professional nutritional counseling.

How to Apply for WIC

WIC Hours

WIC operates daily out of the Johnston County Health Department but also has offices in the Johnston County Health Department's satellite clinics in Benson and Clayton.

Hours of operation for the Smithfield office are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours for the Clayton and Benson offices are the first, second and third Wednesday of each month from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Pick-up hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

La Leche League

The La Leche League hosts meetings that provide information and encouragement about breastfeeding and lactation. They have a website at http://www.lllofnc.org/LocalGroups.html. More information can be obtained from their website or by calling Jessica Dove at (252) 412-2876.
