Hours of Operation

The Heritage Center's Reading Room at 241 E. Market Street, and the Johnston County Museum at 329 E. Market Street, Smithfield, are both open FREE OF ADMISSION CHARGE. The Reading Room is open 9:00 am-5:00 pm Monday-Friday and by appointment on Saturday. The museum is open Monday-Saturday, 10:00 am-5:00 pm. We close for weekday holidays observed by the County of Johnston, and we're usually closed on Saturdays following holidays that fall on Fridays, including the weekends of Easter and Thanksgiving.

Location and Parking

Two-hour parking is allowed along adjacent streets of both the Reading Room and Museum. Free all-day parking is available in nearby off-street lots, the largest of which sits behind the Public Library on the east side of North Third Street.
