About the Johnston County Board of Elections

It is the mission of the Johnston County Board of Elections to ensure that elections are free, fair, accurate, convenient and accessible to all voters in Johnston County.

Responsibilities of the Elections Office include:

    • Processing and maintaining all voter registration records including new registrations, party and address changes, transfers, and removing deceased and felons from these records.


    • Determining precinct lines and notifying all voters of the correct precincts and districts.


    • Providing elected officials, candidates, and the general public with reliable information as requested.


  • Maintaining contact with precinct officials at all times concerning elections, new laws and training.

The right to vote is one of the most fundamental liberties we enjoy as Americans, and it is also one of our greatest civic responsibilities. Make freedom count. Please register and vote!

Composition of the Board of Elections

The Board of Elections Office is governed by a three-member board appointed by the North Carolina State Board of Elections. No more than two members of the County Board of Elections shall belong to the same political party. The board members are:

Board of Elections Meetings

The Board meets on the second Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m. Board meetings are usually held in the Board of Elections Conference Room located at 205 S. Second Street, Smithfield, NC 27577.
