National Communication Award from the
National Association of County Agriculture Agents
for the Best Video

The red imported fire ant has been a problem in Johnston County and throughout the state of North Carolina for several years.  In an effort to help educate the public on methods for controlling fire ants, Shawn Banks, Consumer Horticulture Agent with Cooperative Extension had the idea to make a short video. 

Shawn teamed up with an entomologist (insect specialist) and a videographer from NC State University to produce a short video on controlling fire ants.  The short video was so good it won a National Communication Award from the National Association of County Agriculture Agents for the best video.
