Planning Department Location and Staff
Johnston County Planning Department 919-989-5150 (phone) Office Hours are 8 am-5 pm, Monday through Friday. Our office is located between the Ava Gardner Museum and the Library on Market Street in Downtown Smithfield. Directions from Raleigh/Clayton are: Take US 70 Business out of Clayton, approximately 10 miles - this will bring you straight into Smithfield. Once you cross the Neuse River, the Courthouse will be on the right corner at the second stop light (corner of Second Street and US 70 or also called Market Street). The Land Use Center where Planning, Inspections, Environmental Health and Public Utilities are located is one block down from the Courthouse at the corner of Third Street and Market - parking in the rear of the building.
