Anyone 18 and over can adopt a pet from the Johnston County Pet Adoption Center.  You do not need to be a Johnston County resident.  The fee is $65.00 for each animal, which includes a $50 deposit for spaying/neutering, a rabies shot, and micro chipping. 

The Pet Adoption Center does  require individuals adopting a pet to have the pet neutered or spayed.  The Pet Adoption Center does not offer spaying and neutering services.  The Shelter does work with SNAP-NC to offer low-cost mobile spaying and neutering services, and we require that all pet owners have their pet neutered or spayed to reduce the number of animals in the County without homes.

To adopt a pet from the Shelter:

1. Visit the center during business hours (Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.) 
2. Select an animal

If you see an animal on our web pages that you are interested in, please contact the Shelter as soon as possible.  We endeavor to keep adoptable pets as long as possible, but often they do not stay more than 10 days.
