How to Adopt a Pet
Anyone 18 and over can adopt a pet from the Johnston County Pet Adoption Center. You do not need to be a Johnston County resident. The fee is $65.00 for each animal, which includes a $50 deposit for spaying/neutering, a rabies shot, and micro chipping. The Pet Adoption Center does require individuals adopting a pet to have the pet neutered or spayed. The Pet Adoption Center does not offer spaying and neutering services. The Shelter does work with SNAP-NC to offer low-cost mobile spaying and neutering services, and we require that all pet owners have their pet neutered or spayed to reduce the number of animals in the County without homes.
