In Memoriam: Paul West, Johnston County Officer
| February 2, 1968 - September 11, 1995 |
| Deputy Paul West was killed in the line of duty on September 11, 1995, while trying to locate a suspect for the Raleigh Police Department. While at the residence he and Lt. Ronald Medlin were both fired upon. As a result Deputy Paul West was fatally wounded and Lt. Ronald Medlin was seriously injured. Deputy West was survived by a wife and two sons. Deputy West's murderer, Jose Rosado a.k.a. Angel Jose Guevara, is currently at the North Carolina Central Prison in Raleigh. Jose Rosado was sentenced to death in May of 1996. |
