The principal purpose of our Heritage Roadshow is to give Johnston County's residents a convenient opportunity to share items of historical interest, including old photographs, letters, diaries, journals, school yearbooks, church histories and directories, and anything else that ought to be preserved for the education and enjoyment of future generations.
WANT TO SCHEDULE A ROADSHOW?
We'll be glad to bring a "special edition" of our Roadshow to your church, school, or civic club daytime or evening. For more information e-mail wingate.lassiter@johnstonnc.com or telephone 938-4708.
 | Our most popular "special edition" Roadshow features the "Fossil Man" - a.k.a. Marvin E. Underwood, finder and collector of prehistoric fossils from the "Johnston County ocean" that once covered this land millions of years ago. Young children - like the ones shown below at the Benson Recreation Center - are especially enthralled by Mr. Underwood's collection of prehistoric shark's teeth, dinosaur bone fragments, and petrified shellfish.
