Internet Access Requirements
To use the internet PCs, you must:
- Have a Johnston County library card or show a picture ID.
- Be at least 10 years of age.
- Have no outstanding library fines.
- Agree to the Internet Access policy.
Younger children may sit with a parent, however, they may not cause a disturbance to the other patrons.
All fines must be paid before reserving a PC. The PC reservation system does not allow access to an account with outstanding fines.
Our internet is filtered for pornography, and any attempt to bypass the filter is a violation of the Internet Access policy.
Computer Support
The reference staff can only give limited support to patrons regarding the use of the computers. We recommend that you bring a USB flash drive to store your files.
Software Access
Each public computer is loaded with Microsoft Office 2003 or 2007 including Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and more. Chat programs such as MSN, Yahoo!, and AIM are also installed and available to use. No new software may be installed on the PCs without staff approval.
