To dispose of household waste at the Landfill without being charged a

If you already have a Landfill decal, you can renew your trash decal online.
For more information about Landfill decals, see the About Landfill Decals page.
How to Purchase or Renew a Trash Decal
Trash decals are good at the Landfill and all of the Convenience Centers (Drop-Off Locations). Citizens who use the Convenience Centers to dispose of their household garbage are required to purchase a decal annually. The decal must be affixed to the vehicle's windshield. The price of this decal covers a portion of the costs associated with operating the centers, transportation of waste, and Landfill fees.
Trash decals may be purchased online using a credit card by clicking on the button below:
Proof of Johnston County residency may be required to purchase a decal.
Decals may also be purchased in person at the Public Utilities Office in the Land Use Center at 309 E. Market Street in Smithfield, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
For more information about trash decals, please contact the Public Utilities
department at 919-989-5075.

For information about these items or any other questionable items, please call the Johnston County Solid Waste Division at 919-938-4750.
Littering is punishable under state law and county ordinance. All loads should be
secured and covered to prevent littering. To report littering or illegal dumping,
