1280 percent increase in fees

As October 1, 2011, approaches with the new fee increases in the Register of Deeds Office across North Carolina, I have discovered extra hidden fees that were pushed by the North Carolina Association of Register of Deeds. This particular document located in our records in Johnston County, which was an assignment, was recorded in book 3865 page 543. Effective 11/1/2010 Johnston County Register of Deeds will be able to issue statewide birth certificates

Smithfield NC- Effective November 1, 2010, citizens of Johnston County can obtain their birth certificates, if they were born in another North Carolina County. Linda Brinkley, State Registrar and Director of Vital Records of North Carolina announced this new program. The cost of obtaining a birth certificate with this new system will cost $24.00.
