Craig Olive, Johnston County Register of Deeds, releases facts and figures generated by his office for the calendar year 2021.

Even with continued COVID protocols in place, revenue collected by the Register of Deeds office increased for 2021 as compared to previous years. In fact, 2021 was a record year for total revenue generated for the Johnston County Register of Deeds office. A major increase for 2021 was the number of documents recorded electronically. The office received 81% of the documents to be recorded via electronic means in 2021. This reflects the largest amount of documents electronically recorded by the office since they began electronic recordings in 2007. The past several years the office recorded approximately 66-72% of their documents electronically.

The office also saw a large increase in the number of marriage licenses they issued. In 2021, the office issued 1,483 as compared to 1,439 licenses issued in 2020 and 1,176 in 2019. That constituted an increase of 26% since 2019.

“My staff takes pride in serving our county as evidence by steadily and consistently working during these difficult times.
