Fair Housing Information


The Fair Housing Act prohibits the denial of housing to a person based on the person’s membership in one or more of the classes protected under the Act. The protected classes are race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status, and disability

Owners on the HCV/HAPP program have the ability to use their own pre-screening criteria (credit, criminal, rental history, etc) for potential Tenants as long as it falls within federal Fair Housing Guidelines as stated above. 

The information and brochures provided below are meant to assist both Landlords and Tenants in both basic and specific Fair Housing issues. The information provided below is for all types of rental housing NOT just for HCV/HAPP recipients and their Landlords:
