Some County Offices to Restrict Access Due to COVID-19

Smithfield, NC – The doors to the Johnston County Courthouse remain open; however, the following offices will restrict public access effective Tuesday, March 31st.
Child Support: Citizens will be able to make payments, access general information and email caseworkers at https://www.ncchildsupport.com. In addition, there will be a drop box located on the 3rd Floor of the Law Enforcement Center outside the Child Support Office for any information that needs to be dropped off. The box will be checked hourly.
GIS: Should citizens need assistance, they may email, call 919-989-5153 or go online at www.johnstonnc.com/gis2 to conduct business. Special arrangements will be made with each customer to pick up their maps.
Tax Office: Employees will remain available to assist taxpayers and citizens in the following ways:

Courthouse outside drop boxes – Johnston Street and another box is located in the circle on 2nd St.

If it is necessary to be in the courthouse for other reasons, a locked cabinet is in the hallway for payments and submittal forms. This cabinet will be checked on a regular basis. Tax relief forms are available on a table in the hallway near the Tax Office.
