Smithfield, North Carolina – A COVID-19 outbreak has been identified at Cambridge Place, a residential rehab center located in Smithfield, NC.  An outbreak in a congregate living setting is defined as two or more laboratory confirmed cases.

Congregate living guidance has been provided to the facility by Johnston County Public Health staff, including adherence to infection prevention precautions for residents and staff and limiting opportunities for the infection to spread to others in the facility.

“The safety of all Johnston County residents is our priority.  Upon notification of the initial positive case, facility management was contacted by health department staff and we informed our partners at NC DHHS” stated Public Health Director Dr. Marilyn Pearson.
