Smithfield, NC – Johnston County recently contracted with ECC Technologies to evaluate broadband internet connection throughout the county. The purpose of the study is to inventory telecom infrastructure that supports the delivery of broadband services to rural areas and to analyze and assess provider capabilities.

Beginning on Monday, December 14, 2020, residents may notice an orange Honda Element with an ECC logo and mounted safety-light on the side of the road or in parking lots.  The vehicle will make frequent stops throughout the county to identify telecom infrastructure.
