Digital Case Notification Implemented for COVID Cases
For Immediate Release:
December 23, 2020
Smithfield, NC – Beginning today, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) has implemented a new tool to assist in shortening the gap between positive tests and initial outreach from contact tracers.
The COVID Community Team Outreach tool (CCTO) will send digital notifications to cases with an email or phone number on record. New case records (i.e, with a positive specimen) that have a phone number or email will be sent to CCTO each day at 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Upon arrival in CCTO, patients with positive specimens will be sent an automatic digital notification via text and/or email. The notification will include a link with important information about the results of their test, guidance on notifying contacts, resources for support and information as well as a call center number should they have additional questions.
