Community Invited to Johnston County's Memorial Day Ceremony

Smithfield, N.C. - The Johnston County Veterans Council will host a Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 26, 2025 in the Superior Courtroom at the Johnston County Courthouse in Smithfield at 11:00 a.m. The event will feature guest speakers, veterans' stories, a wreath laying ceremony, and more.

"Freedom comes at a cost, and it's paid for by the courage and sacrifice of our past, present, and future service members," said Director of Veterans Services Robert Boyette. "I hope everyone will take a moment to reflect on the profound commitment these individuals have made for us all."

The public is invited to attend the ceremony at the Johnston County Courthouse, which is located at 207 East Johnston Street, Smithfield, NC. For those who can't attend in-person, the event will be livestreamed on the Johnston County YouTube channel.  All veterans are encouraged to take part in the Memorial Day Ceremony or join us virtually as we pause to remember those who have died while serving in our nation's military.
