Severe Weather Preparedness Week 2019, Day 2: Weather Alerts

Stay Connected by Using These Resources:

  • JoCoAlerts- For local alerts (evacuations, hazards, etc.) from JoCo Emergency Services. Sign up by visiting johnstonnc.com/alerts or calling 919-989-5050.
  • NOAA Weather Radio- A 24/7 VHF radio station for weather updates. Requires a special VHF weather radio. Excellent for Go-Bags.
  • Emergency Alert System (EAS)- State and regional alerts broadcasted through TV/Radio. No app or sign up required. Plays a loud tone.
  • Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA)- State and regional alerts sent through cell phones. No app or sign up required plays a loud tone.
