Provides State-regulated Adult Day Health Care Services with professional staff for adults (age 18 and older) with chronic conditions.

These supervised services allow seniors, disabled adults and our Veterans to remain in their own homes and give their caregiver a much-needed break.

In-Home Aides, Community Alternative Program/Disabled Adults (CAP-DA), Adult Homes Specialist, Adult Care Home Case Management, Adult Care Home and Nursing Home Financial Assistance, Adult Placement Services, and Protective Services for Disabled Adults.

DSS provides services for the in-home care of elderly and disabled adults through the In-home Aide Program and the Community Alternative Program for Adults (CAP-DA).

In-Home Aides may provide the following services:

• Assistance with basic home maintenance skills such as housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Inpatient hospital care
• Doctor's visits and clinical services
• Outpatient hospital visits

CIP provides emergency assistance to households that are in heating or cooling-related crisis.

GA provides funds to individuals for prescription medicines.

Energy Neighbor is a program that provides emergency assistance to a household for a heating or cooling-related crisis.

LIHEAP provides one-time assistance on heating bills which is paid directly to the heating provider.

Provides medical assistance to those individuals who meet the income and reserve test for the particular type of Medicaid for which they are applying. When one applies for Medicaid, eligibility for all Medicaid programs is evaluated to provide the greatest benefit to the client.

Johnston County's Work First program helps put welfare recipients to work. The program provides a monthly check to families. The amount of the check depends on the number of individuals in the family and the amount of family income. There must be a child under age 18 in the home.

Work First provides:

• health care

Together, these services can provide a safety net that allows families to remain in the workforce and off the welfare rolls.

Harbor provides:

• 24-hour shelter for abused women and children
• 24-hour Crisis Line support
• Domestic violence, sexual assault, and life skills support groups
• Advocacy and support to victims and displaced homemakers
• Safety planning for victims trying to leave an abuser or victims who have left recently
• Support and guidance to family members of the victim
• Presentations to local clubs, churches, employers, groups to spread awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault

Employability classes designed to educate and train individuals for success in the workplace.

Human Resource Development (HRD) provides skill assessment services, employability skills training and career development counseling to unemployed and underemployed adults.

Community Action, through coordination of public and private service programs, promotes self-sufficiency for low-income individuals and encourages the use of private-sector involvement in anti-poverty activities.

Our primary goal is to obtain grant funds and local contributions to use for services and activities which have a major impact on the causes of poverty in the community.

Provides default and delinquent counseling before and after purchasing a home.

Single Family Home Rehabilitation and Economic Development

Participants must be 65 years of age or older and own their own homes. Repairs are made to the home that will make them safe and energy efficient.

Vocational rehabilitation serves individuals who have a chronic disability that keeps them from getting or keeping a job. The primary goal is to assist the person to become employed and retain their employment for at least 90 days.

Services are varied and numerous, but all are oriented toward employment. Services provided that are not based on income include:

The Johnston Inclusion Support Services program will provide:

Project Access of Johnston County/Harnett County is a physician-led volunteer initiative that gives low-income, uninsured county residents access to comprehensive medical care. Through Project Access, physicians and community partners like Johnston Health or Betsy Johnson Hospital, donate medical services without receiving reimbursement or compensation.
