Our mission and our work are dedicated to improving the quality of people's lives. We rely on research-based information to develop educational programs based on the issues and the needs of our communities and citizens. Programming is available in agriculture, youth development, horticulture, and family and consumer sciences. We have active extension and community association, 4-H, master gardeners, and beekeeping groups. Mold testing and pest identification are available for $20. Soil testing for pH-level and needed fertilizer is free.

Medicaid provides medical assistance to those individuals who meet the income and reserve test for the particular type of Medicaid for which they are applying. When one applies for Medicaid, eligibility for all Medicaid programs is evaluated to provide the greatest benefit to the client.

Community Action, through coordination of public and private service programs, promotes self-sufficiency for low-income individuals and encourages the use of private-sector involvement in anti-poverty activities.

The Weatherization program provides services to make homes energy efficient and safe.

The Heating Appliance Repair and Replacement Program (HARRP) is designed to repair heating and air systems as needed and offer educational workshops.

HUD Housing

Provides default and delinquent counseling before and after purchasing a home.

Single Family Home Rehabilitation and Economic Development
Glenn Avery, General Contractor
Participants must be 65 years of age or older and own their own homes. Repairs are made to the home that will make them safe and energy efficient.

Partnership for Children of Johnston County - Early Care and Education

Project Access exists to assist communities across the nation with establishing and sustaining coordinated systems of charity care. There are 17 active Project Access programs in North Carolina, each unique to its own community.

Project Access of Johnston County/Harnett County is a physician-led volunteer initiative that gives low-income, uninsured county residents access to comprehensive medical care. Through Project Access, physicians and community partners like Johnston Health or Betsy Johnson Hospital, donate medical services without receiving reimbursement or compensation.
