21 - Day Equity Challenge Listen. Learn. Reflect. Act.

Disparities in health, wealth, and well-being that we would like to eradicate are largely a result of racism that has been a part of public policy over the course of history. We cannot hope to achieve justice for all here in Johnston County and elsewhere in our state and nation until we gain a better understanding of the origins and concept of race, how it influences us as individuals and collectively, and how it works to perpetuate inequities in our laws, institutions, and systems.

The Black History Committee of the Johnston County Heritage Commission is offering a 21-Day Racial Equity Challenge from February 8 to 28, 2021, as one way to gain that understanding through reading, listening, studying, and reflecting. Follow-up discussions will be held via Google Meet on Monday, February 15, 7 pm, and on Monday, March 1, 7 pm.

Please contact Heritage Center Director Todd Johnson at heritagecenter@johnstonnc.com, if you would like to participate in these discussions.
