Entries Sought for a Johnston County Literary Journal

For immediate release:  March 17, 2023

The Johnston County Heritage Center is looking for writers to contribute to the second edition of its Literary and Historical Journal, scheduled for publication in the summer.

"We are looking for short stories, essays and poems with a Johnston County connection," says Todd Johnson, the Center’s Executive Director. Writers from within and outside the county are encouraged to contribute, but entries should relate to Johnston County people, places, and events. "We would especially encourage recent immigrants and other newcomers to submit entries that reflect impressions of their life before and after coming to Johnston County," he adds.

Johnson and Cleveland community resident Dot La Motta of the Triangle East Writers Group will be co-editors for the Journal, which is funded in part by the Cynthia DeFord Adams Literary Fund.

There will be both Adult and Junior Divisions. Submissions will be accepted electronically through the end of April.

For more information or to receive submission guidelines, prospective contributors should call Johnson at 919-938-4708, or send an email to todd.johnson@johnstonnc.com.
