Smithfield, NC -- Johnston County is moving towards a new emergency notification system to provide timely information to community members.  The new system is called JOCOAlerts and is currently enrolling those interested in emergency alerts.

In cases such as approaching hurricanes, sheltering or evacuating in a severe weather or hazardous materials event, assisting in locating a missing person or a disruption to utilities, the County will be able to call citizens in the affected areas and provide vital information.

Anyone who participated in the Johnston County CodeRED system prior to June 15, 2017 will need to register with the new system. CLICK HERE to register for JOCOAlerts, or go to our website at www.johnstonnc.com and click on the JOCOAlerts logo which is located under the photos on the homepage.  This will direct link you with the registration area of the JOCOAlerts System.

All residents are encouraged to register prior to July 1st.  If you do not have internet access, please contact Johnston County Emergency Services at 919.989.5050 Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm and someone will assist you with the registration process.
