VA Health Care Enrollment Event
Durham VA Medical Center
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 3, 2011
Durham VA Medical Center and Veterans Service Officers of Johnston County
Rural Health representatives from the Durham VA Medical Center and the Veteran Service Officers in Johnston County will host a Veteran enrollment event on February 22 at the Johnston County Land Use Center. Representatives will be there to meet with local Veterans who have questions about Veterans Affairs (VA) health care and prescription drug benefits.
“We are working hard to educate Veterans on the VA healthcare benefits they have earned by serving in the military,” said Bobbie Brooker, Rural Health Integrator from the Durham VA medical center. “You have served your nation proudly; please give us the opportunity to proudly serve you,” said Brooker.
Whether you served in the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, or the National Guard, you may be entitled to benefits from the VA. When attending the event, Veterans can bring copies of their DD-214 (discharge/report of separation) or other proof of service to help in the enrollment process. Representatives will also help former service members obtain these documents from the National Archives.
Enrollment specialists will be available to answer questions from Veterans who would like to apply for benefits. All former service members, family members, and Veterans are welcome to attend in a walk-in basis. The VA serves America’s heroes. For all Veterans who have not enrolled into the VA health care system, please take a moment to enroll by visiting www.durham.va.gov or by attending this event.
