The Johnston County Board of Commissioners will conduct Rezoning Petition Application Public Hearings for the following cases on Monday, November 2, 2026 at their 6:00 p.m. meeting. After each rezoning case is heard, the rezoning public hearing, which is a legislative hearing, will be recessed and the Board will render a decision. These hearings will be held in the Commissioners Meeting Room located in the Johnston County Courthouse at 207 E. Johnston Street, Smithfield, North Carolina. If there are any citizens that would like to address the Board regarding any of the cases listed below but have concerns with physically attending the meeting, please email those concerns to Clerk to the Board Dana Cuddington at dana.cuddington@johnstonnc.gov or call (919) 989-5100. The meeting will be live streamed through YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/jocogovnc.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Proposed Unified Development Ordinance
The Johnston County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on Monday, November 2, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Commissioners’ meeting room, Johnston County Courthouse Annex, Smithfield, N.C., 207 E. Johnston Street, Smithfield, NC 27577 for the purpose of receiving public comment on the proposed Johnston County Unified Development Ordinance (“UDO”). The proposed UDO is a comprehensive county ordinance that regulates the use and development of land and buildings in Johnston County, including zoning, development standards, subdivision, stormwater, and natural resource conservation. The draft of the proposed UDO is available online at JohnstonNC.gov/UDO. All interested persons are invited to attend and present their views during this public hearing. Citizens who would like to address the Board regarding this hearing but have concerns with physically attending the meeting, may email those comments to Clerk to the Board Dana Cuddington at dana.cuddington@johnstonnc.gov.

The Budget Subcommittee of the Johnston County Fire Protection Service District Commission has scheduled a meeting on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Emergency Services Training Room at the Johnston County Public Safety Center located at 2875 US Highway 70 Bus. E, Smithfield, NC. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the upcoming budget process for 2027, review the budget process and review draft procedures.
