We understand this is a busy time of year, but this is an important topic. There will be time for questions after each seminar. Each seminar will focus on different topics and we will send out separate sign-up sheets for each meeting date.

Farmers face unique challenges regarding estate planning. Creating an estate plan that leaves all assets "equally to the children" may force the sale of the family farm. In this seminar, Tyler Britton discusses practical farm succession techniques to help farmer clients transfer their business to the next generation during their lifetime and death.

Topics covered include:

Federal estate and gift tax

Probate law

Present-use valuation program

Establishing legal entities (LLCs and corporations) that can provide retirement income for the senior generation and pass ownership to the younger generation

Providing for off-farm heirs

Sales and/or gifts of assets

Using trusts effectively

Our speaker will be Tyler Britton. Tyler Britton serves as Professor of Trust and Wealth Management and Director of the Master of Trust and Wealth Management program at Campbell University. Tyler is a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar, North Carolina State Bar, North Carolina Bar Association, and Johnston County Bar Association.

In addition to his duties at Campbell University, Tyler manages and operates two law firms, specializing in commercial and residential real estate, estate planning, estate administration, and trust law. He serves as general counsel for local companies and non-profits, serves on the Board of the Trust Education Foundation Inc., and is the Dean of the Trust Advisors Institute.
