2023 Open Space Fund - Announcement and Grant Application
We are pleased to announce that the 2023 Johnston County Open Space Fund grant cycle is open and applications are being accepted for new projects until 02/14/2023. It has been two years since the last cycle and the amount of funding throughout the county has grown. In total, there is $1,198,378 for the eligible applicants within all the school districts and $623,020 to be used for county-wide public projects. Open Space funds are to be used for passive or active recreation projects such as parks, sports fields, trails/greenways, and many other items.

If you are new to your organization and do not receive an email, please reach out to austin.cross@johnstonnc.com and adrian.oneal@johnstonnc.com to receive a copy. These applications can be completed digitally or by hand. It is suggested that applicants reach out to Austin Cross, the Parks and Open Space Grant Coordinator with any questions before they submit their application for final review. A difference from the last cycle to this one is:
1) 5% match is required to receive funding if your application is selected
2) A site map is required (details can be found in the application).
