FIREWORK SAFETY- Fireworks Facts

1. Leave the light show to the trained pros

Firework misuse or recklessness can result in serious, if not DEADLY injury.

- Deaths due to fireworks

  • 2019- 12 deaths
  • 2022- 18 deaths

- Fireworks caused 15,600 ER visits in 2020

- 66% of firework injuries occur around July 4th

 

2. Keep the fire risk out of your fireworks

Fireworks not only have a risk of causing injury, but also can start fires.

- Fireworks are responsible for 19,500+ fires each year

- Children under 5 account for OVER HALF of firework injuries

- Sparklers can burn 1,200 to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit

 

3. Keep those around you in mind

While planning your festivities, don't forget about your neighbors.

- If you have neighbors who are elderly, veterans, or have young children reach out to them beforehand about your firework plans

- Don't forget the animals & pets in the neighborhood
