Effects of Cold Temps on The Elderly
- Cold Weather can increase symptoms for Diabetics
- Hypothermia is common, as many elders cannot feel the cold, do not dress properly, or cannot regulate their own temperature.
- Dehydration is common, as the elderly tend to drink too little.
- Vulnerability to cold weather increases when elders have poor nutrition, have chronic illnesses, or take certain medications.
