Weather preparedness cheat sheet pt 2

Weather Cheat Sheet Pt. 2

Tornado Drills | Stay safe in a tornado

Cover your head at all times! Use your arms, a blanket, a coat, or other cushion!

- Seek shelter in the center of an interior room or closet on the lowest floor possible. Avoid windows!

- Mobile homes and trailer, even if tied down, offer little to no protection from tornadoes. Instead, seek the nearest sturdy building or storm shelter.

- If traveling, seek a low, flat location like a ditch. Avoid bridges and overpasses, and do not try to outrun the tornado in a car. If shelter is nearby, attempt to reach it if the weather allows.

Flash Flooding | Stay safe when waters rise

During a flash flood warning, move immediately to higher ground! When paths are flooded. TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!

If your car floods, abandon it

Trapped in moving water? Stay in your car

Water rising inside the car? Climb on the roof

DO NOT drive around traffic barriers or cones

DO NOT park or camp along bodies of water
